The Greater Shillong Crematorium and Mortuary Society has paid tribute to RG Lyngdoh, who passed away on Friday, as having made a significant contribution to Shillong’s only electric crematoriums seeing the light of day.
Lyngdoh, in his time as Urban Affairs Minister, got the paperwork for the project moving in 2004, which led to the boundary wall being erected and other relevant work being initiated. The crematorium was finally commissioned in 2007 under another minister.
