‘Bijlee Mahotsav’ as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will be celebrated in Pynursla, Laitryngew and Sohra to showcase achievements made in the power sector.
The nationwide celebration is being celebrated across the country from today to July 30.
The three venues chosen for the celebration in East Khasi Hills will be organised by the Power System Operation Corporation Limited, North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre (NERLDC, POSOCO) with the support of MePDCL on July 26 and July 28.
The celebration will showcase achievements in India’s power sector through short films made by various Power CPSEs, through Nuked Nataks based on electrification schemes and their benefits and also cultural programme.
District administration, village headmen and localities are involved in the preparation.
Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya is an initiative by Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and all Power CPSEs and State DISCOMs under the guidance of REC are coordinating for its celebration across 773 districts of the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to interact with five selected districts for the grand finale through video conferencing, which will be joined by 100 districts in total on July 30.
