Ahead of festivals approaching police have intensified raids in the city.
Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said, last night 1538.8 litres of beer, 43,775 litres of IMFL and 270 litres of illicit liquor were seized from several places where illegal sale was carried out. He said these were also destroyed on the spot.
While several measures have been taken up throughout the year to prevent any breakdown of law and order, police have upped preventive measures by conducting vice raids, mobile and foot patrolling and checking, the SP said.
He further said measures to check and book those who indulge in drunken and reckless driving will also be intensified to prevent accidents and loss of life.
