The East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC) has lauded the Meghalaya government for upgrading the Khliehriat health centre into a 100-bed hospital but said that there is still work needed to improve the medical facilities available to the people of the district.
In a press release today, the EJNC said that it had been pushing for the hospital upgrade since 2018 and that, now, requirements for medical equipment, such as x-ray machines, should be met. The pressure group wrote to the Centre in October last year in this regard.
The EJNC also said that such an issue should not be treated as one for political point scoring by any political party.
