The East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC) has extended it support to VPP legislator, Ardent M Basaiawmoit for raising a demand to review the state reservation policy system.
Addressing a press conference in Khliehriat today, the organisation said the government should put on hold the implementation of roster system pending a review of the reservation policy.
“The population sizes of the Khasi and Jaiñtia community is high than the Garos and therefore the government should think of reviewing the reservation policy,” EJNC president Sambormi Lyngdoh said.
He also slammed organisations in Garo Hills for their remarks on the VPP chief, stating that they are not concerned about the State but only for their own benefit.
The EJNC further urged all the 36 MLAs from the Khasi-Jaiñtia hills should display their support over the issue in order to work out a better policy.
