The East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC), Khliehriat unit has sought installation of streetlights in vulnerable and dangerous areas of the district.
EJNC president Shanborlang Bamon today met Deputy Commissioner in charge, S.S.Syiemlieh with a petition on the issue. He said street lamps would ensure safety in the district.
Bamon said that the in charge DC informed that the district has been listed to avail thousand street lamps from the Meghalaya Non-Conventional & Rural Energy Development Agency, Shillong but the project has not taken off.
