The East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC) has drawn the attention of the district administration on illegal entry of immigrants through the Ratacherra entry-exit point during the night.
According to the organisation they had detected several instances of illegal entry into through the checkpoint with the absence of police patrol.
The complaint was flagged to Deputy Commissioner, Ethelbert Kharmalki today urging him to take serious action. The EJNC said that around 40-50 people usually enter the State through Ratacherra during the night.
“These people were walking towards the jungle area carrying luggage. These are not local residents but are suspected to be Bangladeshis or Assamese migrants who are illegally entering East Jaiñtia Hills,” the EJNC in a letter to the DC said.
Stating that such illegal entry points to the fact that the Ratacherra checkpoint cannot detect immigrants the organisation said police patrolling is required.
