The Dorbar Shnong of Tuber Kmaishnong in East Jaiñtia Hills, through Waheh Shnong Miki Lyngdoh, has announced that its Executive Committee has set conditions for conducting the election campaign for the district council elections within the area under its jurisdiction.
This decision, made by the Dorbar’s Executive Committee on January 27, aims to prevent any untoward incidents. The conditions will be in effect from February 3 to February 21, the latter being polling day.
The conditions mandate that a candidate may be accompanied by only one person for door-to-door campaigning.
Unidentified individuals are not permitted to conduct door-to-door campaigns without the knowledge of Dorbar Shnong except the candidate accompanied by one other person.
Only five light vehicles will be allowed inside the Dorbar’s jurisdiction for campaigning, provided candidates seek permission regarding the date and timing of such campaigns.
During these campaigns, only five individuals, including the candidate, will be allowed to speak. Banners, posters and flags will not be permitted to be displayed in the Dorbar Shnong community hall during any campaign events. Additionally, parties or feasts will not be allowed inside the community hall.
The Dorbar Shnong has stated that it is not opposed to the campaigns of any candidates or political parties but seeks to ensure that peace and security are maintained at all times within the community.
