Shillong, Feb 12: The East Jaintia Hills District Magistrate has reminded that bull fight and any forms of animal fights have been banned in the district under Section 163 BNSS.
The order issued today said events are still being conducted particularly during fetes and other festivals in some areas of the district.
Such events violate Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960 and Supreme Court ruling against Bull Fighting in 2014 judgment, the DM said.
Any violation of the order would be strictly dealt with as per legal provisions, the order said.
