Police in East Jaiñtia Hills yesterday arrested three people in possession of more than 400g of heroin.
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) acted on intelligence inputs to seize the contraband, Superintendent of Police Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.
The two men and one woman were stopped at Ladrymbai while travelling in a Nagaland-registered vehicle (NL 4C 3516), which was proceeding towards Shillong from Silchar.
“A proper search of the vehicle was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses and 51 soap cases containing yellowish-orange powder were found concealed in a hidden chamber inside the chassis of the vehicle,” Dhanoa said. “The suspected powder gave a positive result for heroin and the total net weight was found to be 411.71g. Accordingly, the contraband was seized in the presence of the independent witnesses.”
