In another breakthrough achieved by the East Garo Hills police, one Baley D Shira (aka Bersly) was arrested from the Sampalgre area of the town and one assault rifle and ammunition was recovered from him.
Yesterday’s operation was led by two senior officers following inputs from sources of the presence of arms and ammunition on Shira. The inputs on Shira had been received many weeks prior leading to a secret police investigation prior to the operation early this morning.
“Technical inputs and data had been sought from the (PHQ) police headquarters on the operation and it was only with all available inputs that the team proceeded with the operation that led to the arrest of Shira early morning at Sampalgre under Williamnagar PS,” confirmed a police release.
An FIR has been filed into the incident at the Williamnagar PS after Shira was found with one Chinese made Type 81 rifle along with 36 rounds of ammunition.
