Shillong, Sep 20: The English and Foreign Languages University, Shillong, observed Hindi Diwas on Friday with a series of academic and cultural programmes.
The ceremony was graced by BDR Tiwari, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Prof Shailendra Singh from the Department of Linguistics at North-Eastern Hill University and Prof Parth Sarthi Pandey, Director of the Central Hindi Institute, Shillong.
In his speech, Tiwari stressed on the importance of Hindi. Other speakers highlighted the importance of Hindi Diwas as an occasion to recognise the language’s cultural and educational relevance, while also encouraging students to value linguistic diversity.
The programme included a quiz organized by Alok Singh, Assistant Professor of Hindi at NEHU.
