Mylliem MDC Ronnie V Lyngdoh today stressed that the elevation of education can eliminate all of society’s problems.
Lyngdoh, the state Congress spokesperson, said this while distributing school bags to 43 students of Mawsawa Mylliem School at a programme organised by the Mylliem Assembly Youth Congress with funds contributed by Lyngdoh.
He lamented that in some schools one teacher teaches more than seven classes and he urged parents to be vigilant in choosing political representatives who can formulate policies to eradicate such problems and uplift the education system in the state.
“Policymakers should formulate laws to increase the number of teaching posts in schools so that quality education is acquired,” he said, adding an electoral pitch to parents to cast their votes for a person who can formulate laws and increase the number of teachers in schools and not choose those politicians who can offer them money and materials only during an election.
Earlier, Mylliem Assembly Youth Congress working president Iateilang Thawmuit said that education was a way to eradicate poverty and scarcity.
He urged parents, teachers and traditional heads not to allow children to drop out of school and pledged that the Youth Congress would do what it could to help dropouts.
