Within 24 hours of an unidentified woman found dead in Um-im, Umtyra village, East Jaiñtia Hills district police claimed to have cracked her murder with the arrest of a person.
The body of a woman, believed to be about 30-35 years of age, was found inside a drain on the roadside of the village situated along the NH 6 on July 19.
Informing that the woman has been identified as Grecia Bareh of Dkhiah village, police today said with the assistance of police from Byrnihat and Assam they have arrested the suspect identified as 42-year old Hedstar Dohtdong of Pyrda village in West Khasi Hills district.
“It is learnt that the deceased person was with a suspect on the night/day before the recovery of the dead body,” police said.
The brother of the victim, Pura Bareh has also lodged a FIR at Khliehriat police station and police said further investigation is on and based on the post mortem report further sections will be added to the case.
