Assembly Deputy Speaker, Timothy D Shira today called on eligible citizens who have not vaccinated against Covid-19 to avail the shots.
Shira attended one of the block melas held at Manikgang Secondary School under Resubelpara C& RD block today.
Block melas are held across the state as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence and to commemorate the fourth Anniversary of Ayushman Bharat- Health and Wellness Centre in the state.
The deputy speaker lauded the office of DM&HO for organizing the health melas in the rural area where a large number of rural people will be benefited.
He said that such melas bring health care services closer to the community and urged upon them to participate in the various health services which was being provided free of cost. He also highlighted on the advantage of MHIS and urged the gathering to enroll under the scheme and avail the benefits.
Awareness on several maternal and child health schemes like PMSMA, JSSK and others were the highlights of the mela. Activities such as blood pressure screening, anaemia screening, oral dental care, gynae-obstetrics care, paediatric care, Covid 19 vaccination, mental health care among others were held to mark the day long programme.
It was also informed that for better health care services, 11 PHCs and 37 Sub Centres within the district have been upgraded to Health & Wellness Centre.
Services being provided under the centre are Tele consultation, Non Communicable Disease screening and health promotion through Yoga.
