The Mawmluh Cherra Cement Employees Union (MCCEU) has reminded the state government and the managing committee of the struggling state-owned company to pay the pending dues of the employees and to give them a regular salary until the factory functions normally.
The union has also urged the government to extend the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) or a ‘golden handshake’ to employees who are willing to opt for these measures.
“We request the government and the managing committee to expedite our demands so that we don’t resort to agitation,” the union leaders said.
The government had decided last year to partially privatise the floundering MCCL through a joint venture.
