Shillong, Jul 25: In view of Saturday’s Durand Cup football match that will feature aerial displays, paragliding demonstrations and a helicopter show as part of the opening ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has appealed the residents of Polo, Golflink Pynthorbah and Pynthorumkhrah areas to refrain from engaging in activities like kite flying which could pose a significant hazard.
This is to ensure safety of both the participants in these aerial events and the general public. Kites could potentially interfere with the flight paths of paragliders and helicopters, leading to dangerous and unforeseen circumstances, the DC said.
