Doctors and other health workers across the state wore either flags, badges or neckties in black to show solidarity against growing violence against doctors by irate family members of patients and others. This was a call given by the Indian Medical Association.
Dr. C Daniela, a senior doctor in North East Indira Gandhi Health Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (NEIGHRIMS) here who is also the president of the state chapter of the IMA said the increasing number of attacks on doctors in many instances in the country has forced the nation’s doctors and other health workers to take a stand against this horrible trend. He said that the medical professionals are doing their best and more under the pandemic circumstances. They are working beyond the call of duty to save lives even in places and situations where facilities are lacking.
“The IMA is doing this to create awareness among the public and also ask the government to take strict action against violence against doctors and health workers” he said. He said that there has been good response from the fraternity and the people.
