Shillong, Apr 10: The Directorate of Housing today formally handed over original documents to district officials, marking a key milestone in the recovery process following the closure of the Meghalaya State Housing Board on August 28, 2024.
The documents handed over include mortgage deeds, receipts, gift deeds, declarations, and land Pattas. These will form the foundation for transparent and accountable recovery operations at the district level.
Housing Secretary Batlang S. Sohliya emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity in documentation during this transition, urging district offices to take ownership of loanee records. He called for sensitivity and transparency when pursuing recovery efforts.
As part of the handover ceremony, original records were formally taken over from employees of the erstwhile MSHB, who opted for voluntary retirement, to the district housing officials.
The focus now remains on enabling district officials to effectively manage the impending recovery tasks.
