Shillong, Mar 2: A roadshow was organised to raise awareness about vector-borne diseases like malaria, Japanese encephalitis, dengue and chikungunya.
The event was conducted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National Health Mission in collaboration with Red FM Shillong.
Dr W Sutnga, District Malaria Officer of West Khasi Hills, spoke about the diseases, highlighting transmission routes, symptoms, diagnosis and prevention methods.
He stressed on early detection, eliminating stagnant water, using mosquito nets and repellents as well as community participation to curb the spread of these diseases.
