The A’chik National Volunteers’ Council (ANVC-B) has sought an immediate meeting with the government over the implementation of the Agreed Text of Settlement (ATS).
General Secretary of the former outfit, Deepan G Momin, has called on the government to ensure that the ATS is honoured.
“The state government has totally ignored the agreement of the ANVC groups, which was signed in the presence of (Union Ministers) Rajnath Singh and Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi on September 24, 2014. Even after six years, the state government has not cleared the rehabilitation packages and the agreed text has not been implemented as per the agreement,” said Momin in a release.
The ANVC-B members pointed to the Bodo Accord, which, according to them, has gone forward due to the initiation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Assam while the Garo agreement has been delayed by the negligence of National People’s Party (NPP) government in Meghalaya.
“We want the government to hold an immediate meeting to review the implementation of Agreed Text of Settlement because the government has continually cheated us for the past six years,” said Momin.
