Shillong, Jan 27: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday said that the situation in Rajabala is peaceful following the recent killing of Dilseng Sangma, a member of a pressure group.
Tynsong said that the district administration has been directed to form a peace committee in the area. “I could see now that the situation is totally normal,” he said.
On January 9, Sangma, an activist from ACHIK, was killed in a mob attack at Goalgaon, near Rajabala in West Garo Hills.
He and his team were inspecting illegal stone quarrying activities when they were attacked with weapons by a group of miscreants, resulting in his death.
So far, eight suspects have been arrested, including a quarry owner and a sawmill owner.
