The police force’s vigilance and determination to curb illegal activities, be it the smuggling of drugs or illegal mining , may have forced “desperate” people into planting the IED that exploded at the Police Reserve in Khliehriat early this morning.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, however, declined to speculate further on who might be responsible, even though the outlawed Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) claimed responsibility.
“As investigations are ongoing, I don’t want to disclose anything right now,” he said. “Maybe because of this (police acting on illegalities) these people are desperate.”
