Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh today said four designs have been presented to the High Power Committee (HPC) regarding the new dome that will be fitted in the new Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang.
According to Lyngdoh, the HPC which met here today has selected the second design.
Lyngdoh said that the HPC members were explained that the dome will be of steel frame structure with partly JRC materials and some metal sheets and at the same time covered with pre coated galvanised iron sheets.
While the weight of the earlier dome design is 3000 tons, the new dome is approximately 250-300 tons.
“We have also asked the design associate to give us the detail drawings of the new dome within 30-45 days’ time to be duly vetted by IIT Guwahati like in the earlier case and that will again be sent to IIT Guwahati for the final vetting to ensure that it is perfect,” Lyngdoh said.
Stating that PWD (Buildings) will supervise the entire construction of the new Assembly building, Lyngdoh informed that the HPC also discussed on the action taken on the findings of the reports submitted by IIT Guwahati which mentioned that the recent dome collapse was due to lack of coordination between the contractor, the consultant and the PWD (Buildings).
