Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today said the East Khasi Hills district administration will file an FIR and a case will be registered in connection with landslide along the Shillong-Dawki Road at Rngain near Pynursla.
Tynsong who visited the mishap site today was accompanied by East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger and other officials.
Tynsong lashed out at the engineers of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) calling them “useless” for their alleged failure in overseeing the safety procedures while carrying out the construction work of the Shillong-Dawki road.
Speaking to reporters he said after an FIR, the government will review the matter on Monday and find out who is responsible for such lapses, be it National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) or the company working on the project, the ARSS Infrastructure Projects Ltd.
He also said experts will arrive tomorrow to inspect and study the area and maintained that law will take its own course and those responsible will be punished.
