The Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has urged Education Minister Rakkam Sangma to find solutions to the delay in the appointment of an assistant teacher at the Dobu, Rimding deficit Upper Primary School in East Garo Hills.
According to the organisation, although the result for the post was declared since September 15, 2023 the school has been left without a teacher pending finalisation.
“This prolonged delay has caused considerable distress and uncertainty,” AHAM said in a letter to Sangma through the Deputy Commissioner.
Moreover, the delay in appointing teacher is adversely affecting the quality of education, as there is a significant shortage of qualified teaching staff, the organisation said, adding that several inquiries were made with the concerned authorities, but each time they are met with vague assurances and no concrete information.
“This lack of transparency and communication is deeply frustration and disheartening,” AHAM said.
