Shillong, Aug 28: The Superintendent of Police of East Jaintia Hills has informed that a decomposed body was found in an abandoned pit near the Indian Oil petrol pump in Khliehriat East on August 17.
The body was fished out of the water-filled pit. An inquest was held on the spot and the body was then taken to Khliehriat Community Health Centre for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death, an official press release stated today.
The deceased is not believed to be a local and there were no clues as to the person’s identity. The press release does not even specify the victim’s gender. The height of the person is around 5 feet and was dressed in a maroon t-shirt and shorts.
