Taxi drivers are directed to comply with Covid protocols, carry passengers as per seating capacity set by the government and to prominently display rate cards issued by the district transport officer.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo said that the order was necessitated after many complaints were received on flouting of Covid protocols by local taxi drivers.
“Passengers can report any violation by sharing the vehicle details to this office or to the nearest police station,” the DC said.
While frequent checking will be carried out the DC said any violation will amount to suspension of license.
