Various NGOs of the Dainadubi area of North Garo Hills met the Deputy Commissioner, RP Marak, yesterday seeking the completion of various PMGSY roads of their area.
The NGOs comprising the AAYF, GSU, PJAC and GSMC further submitted a memorandum seeking the early completion of the road works that have been pending for many years.
They mentioned that roads between Dangkong Rabha to Imbangg, Chituk Daram to Galwangsa (Guresimram), Pangsudam to Rompa and Sat Mile to Rompa are all PMGSY roads and work on them has been abandoned by the contractors.
“As per sources, re-tendering to construct the same roads have been taken up but we are still not aware of whether these works will be restarted again,” said Watson Marak, the AAYF president.
Highlighting the woes of the people of these areas, the NGOs asserted that the incomplete roads have made travel through them extremely difficult, especially during the rainy season.
“We demand that these works be taken up and completed at the earliest so that it provides respite for those suffering,” added Sutindro Marak, the PJAC general secretary.
