The curfew brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic has been relaxed by one hour in East Khasi Hills by the District Magistrate and will now begin daily from midnight and run until 5am.
Previously, curfew had begun at 11pm.
However, curfew has been lifted entirely for the night of March 28 in view of the ensuing Muslim celebration of Shab-e-Barat.
Now one year since curfew was first promulgated as a preventive measure against the spread of the coronavirus, it has been seen anecdotally to be more honoured in the breach than in the observance.
