A training course for Field Assistants in Soil and Water Conservation Department concluded with a passing out ceremony at the Conservation Training Institute in Byrnihat, Ri-Bhoi, today.
Soil and Water Conservation Minister Hamletson Dohling was present on the occasion as chief guest.
The 11-month course for field functionaries began in October 2019 but was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic until resuming in November.
Twenty trainees enrolled in the course, out of which six were from the Jowai Territorial Division of the department, while 14 were from the Chakma Autonomous District Council in Mizoram.
In his speech Dohling congratulated the trainees and said that it is imperative that the institute be upgraded to the directorate level to enhance its work.
