Wahshnong and Nongshiliang hamlets in Jongksha village have been declared as containment zones after a Covid-positive person was found to be mingling and coming into close contact with several people in the two areas.
In the order dated yesterday, the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has promulgated containment restrictions in the two hamlets until contact tracing, isolation and testing of the high-risk contacts is completed.
The person who set this all off was found not to be taking any precautions even after being advised to isolate, as per the protocols set by the state government to arrest the spread of the coronavirus.
No one will be allowed to move into or out of the containment zone, and all shops will be closed during the period, the order states.
