Meghalaya registered another 95 new cases of Covid-19 today, 52 of which were returnees.
East Khasi Hills recorded 50 new infections, including 34 returnees, two armed forces/paramilitaries, seven high-risk contacts, one in the Mawlai cluster and two influenza-like illnesses (ILIs).
There were also 16 new cases in West Jaiñtia Hills (15 high-risk contacts, one returnee), 11 in West Khasi Hills (10 returnees, one high-risk contact), 10 in Ri-Bhoi (six high-risk contacts, four returnees), six in East Jaiñtia Hills (four high-risk contacts, one returnee, one ILI case) and one each in South West Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills (both returnees).
There were also 11 recoveries – seven in East Khasi Hills, two in Ri-Bhoi and one each in West Jaiñtia Hills and East Jaiñtia Hills.
There are now 649 active Covid-19 cases in the state, an increase of 15 percent on the previous day. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 475 active cases and West Jaiñtia Hills 97.
In all, Meghalaya has had 14,798 Covid-19 cases, of which 649 are active, 13,997 have recovered and 152 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has fallen to 94.59 per cent. The fatality rate is 1.03 per cent. Over 1.72 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Meghalaya as of today.
