Another 180 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Meghalaya today, 68 of which were among returnees.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 118 of these cases – 53 returnees, 32 high-risk contacts, seven armed forces/paramilitaries, six influenza-like illnesses (ILIs), three detected through screening, one in Bishnupur, one in Mawlai, one in Mawbah, one in Laitumkhrah, three in Nongmynsong, two in Madanrting, four in Khyndailad, three in Polo and one health worker.
West Jaiñtia Hills reported 31 cases (24 high-risk, seven returnees), Ri-Bhoi 14 (seven through screening, five high-risk, two returnees), 10 in East Jaiñtia Hills (five high-risk, four returnees, one ILI), three each in West Khasi Hills (two high-risk, one returnee) and South West Khasi Hills (two health workers, one returnee) and one in South Garo Hills (ILI).
There were also 68 recoveries – 53 in East Khasi Hills, 13 in West Jaiñtia Hills and two in Ri-Bhoi.
There are now 1,133 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 811 active cases and West Jaiñtia Hills 134.
In all, Meghalaya has had 15,488 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,133 are active, 14,198 have recovered and 157 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has fallen to 91.67 percent. The fatality rate is 1.01 percent. Over 1.90 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Meghalaya as of today.
