The number of active Covid-19 cases in Meghalaya crossed the 2,000-mark as 112 new infections were detected on Saturday. The number of active cases now stands at 2038.
Out of the 112 fresh cases recorded on Saturday, East Khasi Hills had the maximum with 87 armed/paramilitary forces and others 65, West Garo Hills 18 – armed/paramilitary forces 11 and others seven, Ri-Bhoi four, East Jaiñtia Hills one, South West Garo Hills one and West Jaiñtia Hills one.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the breakup of the others category district wise are, high risk contacts 34, health worker one, influenza like cases one, SARI case one, Barapathar cluster two, Jahlupara cluster four, Laban cluster one, Khyndai Lad cluster five and Raj Bhavan 16, West Garo Hills – high risk contacts four, returnees three, Ri-Bhoi four – high risk contacts three, returnee one, East Jaiñtia Hills one returnee, West Jaiñtia Hills one high risk contact and South West Khasi Hills one.
East Khasi Hills continues to remain the hot spot with 87 fresh cases taking the total cases 1,433 active cases, which include 1196 civilians and 237 armed forces/paramilitary personnel.
East Jaiñtia Hills district has 275 active cases, West Garo Hills district, 141, Ri-Bhoi district 132, South West Garo Hills district 16, West Khasi Hills district 10, West Jaiñtia Hills district nine, South Garo Hills district eight, South West Khasi Hills district six, East Garo Hills district five and North Garo Hills district three.
Dr. War also informed that 46 more Covid-19 patients recovered from the viral infection taking the recovery tally to 2483.
In East Khasi Hills 20 armed and paramilitary forces receovered, West Jaiñtia Hills 10 – armed/paramilitary forces eight, Phulbari cluster one and Tikrikilla one, South Garo Hills 10 – high risk seven and returnees three, East Jaiñtia Hill five returnees and Ri-Bhoi one returnee.
Dr. War said that 1, 31,433 samples have been sent for testing so far, of which 1, 26,022 have tested negative and results of 854 were awaited.
The State has detected a total of 4,557 Covid-19 cases out of which 2,038 are active, 36 deaths and 2,483 recoveries as on Saturday.
