Active Covid-19 cases in the state are slowly coming down to 1019 as recovered cases continue to be on the high with 8345.
On Saturday, the state recorded 220 new recovered cases with 70 new coronavirus cases. Another fatality was also reported by the health authorities from East Khasi Hills.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased, Heavenstone Nongrum (83), of Riatsamthiah locality in Shillong passed away at Nazareth Hospital, on October 30. He said he was admitted on October 22, and suffering from co-morbodities like hypothyroidism and hypertension and other illnesses.
The death tally in the State now is recorded at 88.
East Khasi Hills, the worst hit district is slowing returning to normalcy with 438 active cases.
Dr. War informed that of the new cases recorded on Saturday, East Khasi Hills reported 22 (armed/paramilitary forces three and others 19), Ri-Bhoi 17, West Garo Hills 16, East Garo Hills five, North Garo Hills and West Jaiñtia Hills four each, South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills one each.
Of the 220 new recovered cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 135 (armed/paramilitary forces one, others 134), , West Garo Hills 64, Ri-Bhoi eight, West Jaiñtia Hills five, East Garo Hills and East Jaiñtia Hills and North Garo Hills two each, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills one each.
The Director of Health Services also informed that till Saturday afternoon a total of 2, 02, 056 samples were tested out of which 1, 92, 604 yielded negative results. Dr. War also said that a total of 53, 567 persons entered Meghalaya from various parts of the country and outside till Saturday afternoon.
The Director of Health Services also informed that there are 49 containment zones all over the State and the fatality rate is 0.93.
East Khasi Hills recorded 79 persons who succumbed to the virus, while East Jaiñtia Hills, South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills have not recorded any fatalities.
