A team of police from Jorabat seized a truck that had been loaded with beer in the early hours today morning. The authorities suspected that the consignment was being transported illegally.
The Assam-registered truck (AS 01 KC 6517) was seized in the 13th Mile area and 396 cartons of beer were found within.
The driver of the truck, however, managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness. A businessman named Ripon Barua, who is suspected of being involved in the illegal liquor business, was arrested, though.
