The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong, held its ninth convocation for its 2020 and 2021 batches at its permanent campus at Umsawli on Friday.
In all, 156 graduates from the 2020 and 2021 batches received their degrees by Upendra Prasad Singh, Secretary (Textiles) in the Union Ministry of Textiles and chairman of the NIFT board of governors.
Singh, the chief guest, was accompanied by Shantmanu, Director General of NIFT and Prof Vandana Narang, Dean (Academics) of NIFT.
Singh addressed the graduates and congratulated them on their new beginning as professionals in the industry. Shantmanu asked the graduates to work for society without forgetting their roots and to continuously strive towards upgrading their knowledge.
Achievements of students who excelled in both academic and extracurricular activities were also recognized and awards handed out to students for the NIFT Student of the Year, NIFT Extraordinary Service Award, NIFT Best Academic Performance Award and NIFT Award for Meritorious Student categories.
