Shillong, Dec 7: Leaders of the Meghalaya State Council of Contractors and Suppliers Welfare Association (MSCCSWA) met with the Director of School Education and Literacy, BJ Kharshandi, on Friday.
The discussions centered on demanding the strict incorporation of non-negotiable reforms in all upcoming tenders to protect indigenous contractors and suppliers, ensuring fair competition and economic sustainability for local communities.
The association wants the introduction of separate packages per district to enable small/medium local firms, ensuring competition, efficiency and equitable opportunities with no more multi-district monopolies; tender-specific licences for non-tribals; cap on annual turnover; and 30 percent bank solvency standard.
