Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will visit New Delhi tomorrow to attend a meeting of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
NPP which is headed by Sangma is the ally of the BJP-led NDA. Although, NPP did not win any seat in Meghalaya in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the party supports the BJP governments in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
Sangma is also likely to attend the swearing in of the new NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 7.
The BJP-led NDA won 293 seats in the recent Lok Sabha polls. Modi will be sworn in as the Prime Minister for a historic third consecutive term.
Leaders of the NDA unanimously elected Modi as their leader today at a meeting held at the prime minister’s residence.
The opposition INDIA bloc which finished with 232 seats failed in its attempt to form the government as it fell short of the majority mark of 272.
