The oath-taking ceremony of three newly elected MLAs at the temporary Assembly building here today was not attended by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
It may be mentioned that Mawryngkneng MLA Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Mawphlang MLA Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Rajabala MLA Abdus Saleh were administered the oath of office by Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh today afternoon.
The chief minister could not attend the oath taking ceremony of the three new MLAs as he had to attend two functions in West Jaiñtia Hills.
Sangma was the chief guest at the Self Help Group Mela held at Thadlaskein. Later, he attended a meeting in Jowai to review the vaccination coverage of all districts.
Meanwhile, several MLAs from the ruling MDA coalition were present at the oath-taking ceremony.
The opposition Congress was represented only by Himalaya M. Shangpliang.
Family members and close friends of the new MLAs also attended the oath-taking ceremony.
In the evening, the chief minister attended the felicitation programme held at the NPP office here where newly elected party MLAs – Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Abdus Saleh were felicitated.
