The NPP today announced its support to the Lok Sabha candidate of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in Nagaland and the Naga People’s Front (NPF) nominee in Manipur.
NPP national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today met Nagaland Chief Minister and senior NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio to discuss the Lok Sabha elections.
Sangma was accompanied by Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma.
Sangma said that his party would support NDPP candidate Chumben Murry for the lone Nagaland seat.
The NPP would also support NPF candidate Kachui Timothy Zimik in the Outer Manipur seat.
Further, the NPP has decided to support the BJP nominees in the two Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh.
The BJP candidates are Union Minister Kiren Rijiju (Arunachal West) and Tapir Gao (Arunachal East).
It may be mentioned that NPP, NDPP, NPF are part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
Last week, the BJP decided not to field its candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in Meghalaya.
The saffron party has offered to support the NPP in the two parliamentary seats – Shillong and Tura.
