Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today informed that the central government has accorded ₹700 crore for the autonomous district councils.
Sangma said GHADC will get around ₹250 crore for creating development assets for Garo Hills.
The NPP president is currently in Garo Hills to drum support for his party candidates vying in the GHADC elections, scheduled April 12.
In the rallies he addressed at Mangsang under Darugre constituency, Sangma said people should vote for a party that listens to them. He said that Congress has lost its political ground across India and they have no political will anymore.
“They have no option in the party even for party president post in State or Centre level,” he stated.
Asking people not to get carried away by “false propaganda” of Congress, he appealed the people to vote for NPP and its candidates.
In Williamnagar, Sangma told the gathering that despite Covid-19 pandemic, the government carried out its welfare and development initiatives and was able to spend highest ever budget to create assets for the state. He said that the government was able to work with utmost dedication to create and upscale infrastructure projects in the State.
He also told the gathering that Meghalaya was able to manage the Covid situation with cooperation of different stakeholders, public and community organisations.
Sangma appealed people not to be misled by the opposition but trust the ruling party, as “NPP aspires to take Meghalaya as one of the 10 top states in India.”
