Congress in-charge for Meghalaya – Manish Chatrath reached Shillong today to take stock of the situation after 12 Congress legislators led by former chief minister Mukul Sangma jumped ship and joined TMC last night.
The MPCC chief said that all the legislators who have shifted their allegiance to the Trinamool Congress has betrayed voters who elected them in the 2018 polls on polls on Congress tickets.
Pala also said that they all along knew that Dr. Sangma was going to leave the Congress and therefore, the party had aggressively gone about with their enrolment campaign.
After the late night coup, the grand old party went into a huddle today at the residence of MPCC Chief and Lok Sabha MP, Vincent H. Pala which was attended by only three MLAs—Process T Sawkmie, Mohendro Rapsang and Ampareen Lyngdoh. Two other MLAs, Kimfa Marbaniang and Mayalborn Syiem were conspicuous by their absence.
