The Congress Party has already decided on 50 percent of its candidates to contest the Garo Hill Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections.
The list will be released only after the party finalises all the candidates, former Chief Minister and senior party leader Dr Mukul Sangma informed today.
The delayed elections to the GHADC, which is currently under Administrator’s Rule after the term of the previous council ended in October, will be held on April 9. In the 30-member house, 29 MDCs are elected and one is nominated by the state government.
“We are always prepared because our workers at the grassroots are always working. If polls (to the Assembly) are held even now we are ready,” Dr Sangma asserted.
