The Meghalaya Institute of Governance, a state government body, in collaboration with the Department of Economics at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), will organise a one day state conference on the topic ‘Strengthening the Finances and Financial Accountability of Autonomous District Councils in Meghalaya’ on Monday at the State Convention Centre here.
This is a first of its kind initiative to bring together representatives of the district councils and the state government along with resource persons to deliberate on the issues and challenges of local government financing.
District Council Affairs Minister Lahkmen Rymbui will be present. Prof VN Alok of the Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi will deliver the keynote address. Elected members and officials of the district councils and state government will participate in the conference.
