Chardham Yatra 2023 to the holy shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri is scheduled to commence in April and May, a state government press release informed today.
In this regard, the Uttarakhand government has initiated measures for the safety, comfort and security of the pilgrims visiting these shrines.
Compulsory online yatra registration for all pilgrims is compulsory but free.
Pilgrims can register through any one of the four mediums – the registrationandtouristcare@uk.gov.in website, the TouristCareUttarakhand App which is available on Android and IOS, Whatsapp number 8394833833 or via a phone call on a toll-free number 0135-1364. Darshan tokens will be issued at each shrine to only those pilgrims who have registered at the shrines for that particular date.
Furthermore, pilgrims must register before starting the journey to visit the shrines and submit the correct mobile number and emergency contact number while registering.
The pilgrims must get themselves medically examined before proceeding on the yatra as the terrain at these shrines is climatically harsh. As such, the pilgrims should plan their yatra at a relaxed pace with adequate stops enroute to acclimatise themselves with the terrain and climate. Pilgrims must verify the antecedents of persons/agents offering yatra darshan, helicopter bookings, registrations, etc and they must carry adequate woolen clothing and protection with them.
Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines shall open for darshan from April 25 and April 27 respectively and registration for these began in February.
