      Communalism Target Nuns

The allegations leveled against Sisters Preeti Mary and Vandana Francis are baseless and motivated by a communal agenda. The Bajrang Dal members who filed the complaint are affiliated with the BJP, a party known for its contentious stance on minority rights. The fact that the Chhattisgarh government, also ruled by the BJP, has pursued these charges raises concerns about the targeting of minority groups.

The BJP’s track record on minority issues has been contentious, with many accusing the party of fostering a divisive atmosphere. The party’s rhetoric and policies have often been criticized for marginalizing minority communities, including Christians, Muslims, and others. The arrests of the two nuns are a stark reminder of the growing trend of communal vigilantism in India, where minority groups are being targeted and harassed by extremist groups.

In the northeast, where the NPP-led government in Meghalaya has an alliance with the BJP at the center, there are growing concerns about the erosion of minority rights and the increasing influence of communal politics. The BJP’s ideology and policies have been criticized for promoting a narrow and exclusionary view of Indian identity, which has led to the marginalization of minority groups.

The release of the two nuns on conditional bail is a welcome relief, but the underlying issues of communal vigilantism and the targeting of minorities remain unaddressed. The Catholic Church and other minority groups have condemned the arrests, highlighting the need for greater protection and support for minority communities in India.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and protests, with many calling for greater accountability and action against communal forces. The Kerala government has taken a strong stance against the arrests, with the state assembly passing a resolution condemning the BJP’s actions.

The incident has also raised questions about the role of the BJP and its affiliates in promoting communalism and targeting minority groups. The party’s leadership has been accused of using divisive rhetoric and policies to polarize voters and consolidate power.

In this context, the arrests of the two nuns are seen as part of a larger pattern of targeting minority groups and promoting a communal agenda. The incident has highlighted the need for greater vigilance and action against communal forces, and for the protection of minority rights and freedoms.

The Catholic Church and other minority groups have called for greater support and protection for minority communities in India. They have also demanded that the government take action against communal forces and promote a more inclusive and tolerant society.

In conclusion, the arrests of the two nuns are a stark reminder of the growing threat of communal vigilantism in India. The incident highlights the need for greater accountability and action against communal forces, and for the protection of minority rights and freedoms. The government must take concrete steps to address the underlying issues and promote a more inclusive and tolerant society.
