Shillong, Aug 20: The Commissionerate of Food and Safety conducted a massive cleanliness drive at Iawmusiang, Jowai today.
The clean drive saw the participation of around 200 NCC cadets from nine schools and colleges and teacher guides. The NCC contingent was led by HAV Sita Ram Pandey of 42 Megh BN NCC Shillong.
Market committees of Iawchor (CNI Market), Sein Raij Market (Jowai Sein Raij), and Iawshyiap (PJC Market), as well as shopkeepers and vendors, also participated in the cleaning drive.
Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement) BDS Mukhim in her speech emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining cleanliness. She urged citizens to adopt sustainable practices for a cleaner and healthier society.
LBR Marak, Assistant Commissioner, Jowai reiterated the need for community involvement in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
The clean drive is part of the efforts of the Commissionerate to promote sanitation and hygiene in public places.
