Shillong, Sep 3: Sankardev College commemorated its 63rd foundation day yesterday with a graduation day for the Post Graduate and Undergraduate students.
Education Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Kumar Mantri presented the academic award of excellence to Prarthana Phukan who secured fifth position in Sociology and Kong Sarmu the tenth position holder in History in the recent NEHU Under-Graduate examinations.
Altogether 190 passed students were also presented with citations.
Kumar also released the book, ‘Dynamics of Teaching’ written by Prof. T. K Kharbamon, Vice Chancellor of Martin Luther Christian University, who is also a member of Governing Body of the College.
The teaching and non-teaching staff who have completed 25 years of service were also felicitated.
Certificates of commendations were also awarded to Joy Singha, an NCC Cadet and Mewanshwa Sohlang, a student of the English Department. Faculty members who excelled in their areas of research and professional activities were also felicitated during the programme.
A short documentary on the experiences of the students in the recently concluded internship programs was also screened. Altogether, 235 students successfully interned with 25 Internship Providing Organizations.
Meanwhile, Tura Christian College (TCC) hosted its graduation ceremony for the 2022-2025 batch at the district auditorium in Tura. The event celebrated the achievements of 85 graduates from the Arts and Commerce streams.
The ceremony featured a series of speeches, musical performances, and formal ceremonies.
Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang, who attended the programme as chief guest emphasised the importance of perseverance, hard work, dedication, courage, and determination.
